POPLAR

Poplar is a simple commentary with an intent of being direct. This piece is a 14′-0″ nominally sized piece of poplar wood situated amongst a line of trees by the same name. Maybe one could infer a message of natural resource required for such little product. Maybe one could infer something about loss of life, as it mirrors the tree that managed to maintain its size but not its life. Maybe what exists is a out-of-place but otherwise perfect object filling a void to complete a pattern of trees as a cheesy substitute who’s only common ground with its surroundings is it’s title. Maybe what will exist is evidence of weather and ruin and Mother Nature’s reclaim of what man tried to take from and control of what is rightfully hers.
